This past weekend  I rode in my first Randonee, hiked with some friends, and went to a local flower market.  Having so many fun things to do and good people to share them with really helps to make this place feel like home.

On Saturday, I did my first organized group bike ride in Luxembourg.  This one was a Randonee, which means that when you sign up, you get a card with blank boxes. Along the route, there are checkpoints where you stop to have the station attendee stamp your card.  The aim is to get all the boxes stamped to show you completed the ride.  I did the ride with some Luxembourg friends; two of us had never done a Randonee before, and we had a great time.

On Sunday, a group of friends who I met through the American Women’s Club of Luxembourg had a girls’ day out in Kayl, Luxembourg.  We met in the morning for a hike and then took the short trip into town to hang out and have lunch at the Kayl Flower Market.  It seemed more like a small festival than a flower market.  I’m starting to learn that any occasion in Luxembourg is a good reason to bring out the beer truck and start grilling some sausages, which as far as I can tell are very similar to brats in Wisconsin.

In other news, this morning I dropped the car off to get it’s routine service.  I hope the maintenance is pretty straightforward, so when I go pick it up all I have to do is sign on the dotted line and drive away.  My mechanic only speaks French, so if he has to explain something to me like a loose gasket or broken carburetor, we will get no where fast.  I have started to be able to communicate in French at restaurants and stores, but car parts are not yet in my vocabulary.

I hope everyone is having a good week.  Until next time!
