I’m still working on catching up from the past 10 days of nonstop adventure that included 5 countries, 3 friends from the States, 2 train rides, 1 road trip, and a dog. I’ll write all about it, but for now, while I work on sorting through my thoughts and photos, I figured this short blog post would be suitable for today.

It is a tradition to wear red poppies on Memorial day in honor of those who died serving the nation during war.
On my bike ride today, I saw some poppies in a field, which made me remember that today is Memorial Day in the U.S. I remember when I was younger, women and men from the American Legion would sell artificial poppy flowers at the grocery store to raise money for veterans. And that got me to thinking of my grandpa who served in WWII. So, I’d like to thank him and all the other veterans on this Memorial day for their bravery and valor. The holiday actually hits a little closer to home when one’s home is on the land where the battles were actually fought.

Cyclist, runner, traveler, wife, dog lover. I enjoy spending time with my dog, being outdoors, good company, good food, and relaxing. A web programmer by trade, I'm currently enjoying life in Luxembourg while my husband plays bikes as the Trek Bicycle Team Liaison for RadioShack Leopard Trek.

If you haven’t seen the Luxembourg-American Memorial Cemetery yet, go! It’s near the airport.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. I heard their Memorial Day service was really nicely done too. I’ll have to try to go next year.
